About Me

choosing food suppliers for a non-profit camp

I have spent endless hours searching for food suppliers to purchase the food for the non-profit campground that I help run through the summer. I have learned that all pricing is different from supplier to supplier and so is the quality of the food that they offer. It has taken a very long time for me to learn what to get from a big food supplier and when to purchase things from a smaller supplier. To learn my methods of ordering food on a very tight budget for hundreds of people, visit my website. There, you will find a breakdown of my supplies and the suppliers that I use to get what I need each summer.

Visit Your Local Natural Grocery Store Before Grilling Season

by Layla Watson

For many people, the arrival of warmer weather in the spring means the beginning of grilling season. If you're the type of person whose favorite way to cook is outdoors, you'll be eager to start planning some meals to make for family and friends. You'll likely plan to visit your local supermarket to load up on ingredients, but you should also think about dropping into a natural grocery store in your area. This health-focused food store carries a wide range of products that you may wish to use, including these three bottled goods that you may rely on repeatedly in the weeks ahead.

Barbecue Sauces

While you can buy barbecue sauce at virtually any supermarket, your local natural food market also carries an extensive selection of sauces that are more healthy. For example, while sauces at a supermarket will often be very high in sugar due to ingredients such as corn syrup, those at a natural grocery store will be lower in sugar. You can also buy sauces that lack the preservatives that are often found in other sauces. You'll see all sorts of different sauces that can work well for chicken, fish, and even vegetables.

Spice Rubs

Many grilling enthusiasts also enjoy using spice rubs. For example, while you might brush barbecue sauce on some chicken legs that you're grilling, coating the meat with a spice rub before it goes on the grill will boost the flavor profile. You'll find several different spice rubs at your natural food store that may appeal to you. For example, you'll see various products that are lower in sodium — some will even be salt-free — than the majority of the spice rubs in your supermarket. You'll also see products that are gluten-free, which can be ideal if you have a family member who follows a gluten-free diet.

Salad Dressings

It's common to make and serve salads with grilled food, and you can find all sorts of different salad dressings at your natural food store. These products can be a nice alternative to the salad dressings you've likely bought in the past at your supermarket. Not only can they offer some unique flavors, but they're often healthier. For example, many of them will be lower in sugar, while it's also common for them to use healthier oils than their more widely available counterparts. Visit a local natural grocery store in your area to shop for each of these products before the arrival of grilling season.
